  3. Although this is not required, you can take vocational courses at community colleges to increase your chances of employment. Employers will always go for applicants who have more knowledge on the nature of the job. You can also collect certificates from programs such as animal care, veterinary terminology and animal anatomy.

  4. In some cases, your passion for animals may compensate for your lack of formal education. There are individuals who are so at ease with animals that the animals are at ease with them as well. You will never learn that trait in school.

The chances of being promoted to a veterinary technician are very high if you excel in what you do. Your employers will make training available to you if they see that you have the skills to progress. In some cases, they will train you themselves to ensure your competency. Once given the chance, you have more opportunities in the field. Caring for animals can be quite a challenge because they can’t say what they feel.
