Who says that healthy foods are not delicious? Follow these cooking steps to keep your family healthy and happy:

  1. Shop for the ingredients. You will need one stick of butter, one and three-fourths cups of dry breadcrumbs, 16 chicken drumsticks, kosher salt and ground black pepper. These are available in most grocery outlets or fresh markets.

  2. Ready the cooking tools, such as a sharp knife, airtight container, baking sheet, parchment paper, saucepan, shallow dish and large plate. Most of these are basic utensils and materials found in most kitchens. Just make sure that you have all of them.

  3. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Also, cover a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat and pour it into a shallow dish. Spread the bread crumbs across a large plate.

  4. Loosen the skin of the chicken and make a small incision in each drumstick.  Remove the skin by grasping one side of the cut and pull firmly until the skin is completely detached from the other cut. Clear the drumsticks from remaining pieces of skin if necessary. The skin is where most fats are found – without them, your meal will be healthier.

  5. Dip the chicken drumsticks in the melted butter and coat them with bread crumbs. Arrange them individually on the baking sheet and sprinkle some salt and pepper. The butter will enhance the taste, and they will be crunchy with the breadcrumbs before they get cold. Even when cold, they are delicious

  6. Load the baking sheet filled with chicken drumsticks and bake until brown. It should not be over 60 minutes before they turn golden brown. You will know that they are cooked inside when clear liquid oozes from the meat when pierced with a knife. No need to cut the chicken. A minor incision should be good enough to test the meat.

  7. Remove the chicken from the oven and serve while hot. You can preserve the freshness if you place the chicken in an airtight container. Seal properly and keep refrigerated. Consume within three days of refrigeration. You can also eat them cold straight from the refrigerator with your choice of dipping sauce.

Parents will not be surprised to find that children love any kind of food they can eat with their fingers and some dipping sauce. Even simple common vegetables like carrots cut into small pieces and served with mayonnaise are always a winning serving. Gravy, chili and sweet and sour are just few of the sauces you can serve with baked chicken drumsticks. Learning how to cook chicken drumsticks in an oven can be a quick solution to dinner. The chicken will be tender and juicy, plus the richness of the taste can be savored until your bite reaches to the bone. You can add this delectable serving to your collection of recipes.
