how to cure asthma

Asthma is a kind of chronic inflammatory illness in the airways mainly characterized by bronchospasms and airflow obstructions. The identified cause of asthma is a combination of environmental and genetic factors. These days, there are a number of good remedies for how to cure asthma. From the year 1970 down to 2010, over 300 million people worldwide are suffering from asthma. Sometime in the year 2009, there were more than 250,000 patients believed to have died from asthma. To learn more on how to manage asthma, just follow the tips below which are proven to be helpful and beneficial.

  1. Know the symptoms of asthma. Once you know the common and the early symptoms of asthma, you can address it right away, especially if you are known to be an asthmatic person. The early signs of asthma include: shortness of breath shortly after a physically demanding activity, runny nose, wheezing, and sneezing. When your crushing cough leads to chest tightening, or you find it hard to speak, then that signals that a more serious asthma attack is about to occur.

  2. Take out all asthma triggers in your space. In order not to trigger an asthma attack, you need to clean your home from dusts, pollens, and all other forms of allergens like smoke, animal fur, and strong fragrances. All of these can aggravate the occurrence of your asthma. You might also need to wipe the blinds and shelves in your room. When the immediate surroundings are really clean, your asthma will not be easily triggered.

If possible, do not do the cleaning yourself. Direct contact with excessive dust can severely trigger an asthma attack. Ask someone to do the cleaning for you.

  3. Combine ginger, pepper, powder, and molasses. There are a number of effective homemade and natural solutions for controlling an attack of asthma and in treating the corresponding symptoms. Prepare at least ¼ tsp. of pepper, ¼ tsp. of ginger powder, and 1 tsp. of molasses.  Combine them all into a glass of herbal tea. Stir well and drink the mixture.

  4. Drink ginger tea. Take a cup of ginger tea in the morning and take another glass before bedtime. You can add two crushed garlic cloves to it, if desired, for maximum relief. Clinically, the root part of ginger can be taken both in its raw and dried forms. Dried ginger roots are very helpful in curing several ailments like colds, coughs, joint inflammations, headaches, cholera, flatulence, and asthma.

According to the Chinese tradition, ginger tea has been known in China for over 2,500 years already for treating asthma, sinus pain, and sore throat. The superb “yang energy” component of ginger can greatly warm the stomach and the lungs while it clears any nasal congestion.

  5. Take butterbur supplement. Daily intake of at least 500 milligrams of butterbur supplement can likewise greatly reduce the severity of asthma attacks. For over a century already, in the larger part of Europe, North America, and Asia, butterbur has been widely used in treating serious asthma, heavy coughing, and other inflammatory diseases.

A butterbur extract contains a large amount of petasin which has inhibitory characteristics in terms of leukotriene production in the neutrophils and eosinphils. This simply means that butterbur has anti-allergy and anti-inflammatory properties.

  6. Take coleus or wild licorice tea. The lung inflammation due to asthma can naturally be addressed by taking at least a cup of hot water containing 1 tsp. of wild licorice roots. Actually, all parts of a licorice plant can be eaten raw, but the root part is the most effective in treating bronchial asthma, gastric ulcers, fevers, and toothaches.

While the Cheyenne Indians before were drinking tea with wild licorice roots whenever they experienced severe chest pains and stomachaches, the Lakota Indians, on the other hand, were chewing wild licorice roots as a natural remedy against flu and diarrhea.

  7. Undergo homeopathic treatment. This is one of the recognized natural treatments against asthma. This type of alternative medicine involves the use of highly-diluted preparations made by your homeopathic doctor.

Initially, the doctor will conduct diagnostic examinations to determine the degree of your asthma, your lifestyle habits, and medical history. The required dosage of your medication should be strictly followed. In other words, you are not supposed to make your own combination of homeopathic formula.

With homeopathy medication, you can be certain that you will not suffer any harsh side effects later on. You have two goals in undergoing homeopathy. First is the short-term which is to reduce the degree of your asthma. Second is long-term which is to strengthen the level of your immune system so that you can no longer be affected by asthma. Upon completion of your treatment, you can freely and normally breathe in and out. The main advantage of homeopathy is that you are able to keep your immune system in good condition.

  8. Use air filters and masks. Apart from putting on your masks as often as you can to thwart asthma attacks, using an air purifier like HEPA can drive away seasonal allergens. Most air filters are capable of protecting your area from allergens up to a few hundred square feet. During allergy season, like throughout the grass and tree seasons in summer and in spring, you should be closing your windows most of the time.

Also, if you cannot avoid working in an area exposed to chemicals, always put on your mask. Formaldehyde, glycerin, and phenol are the usual chemical allergens that can be found in your working area.

Asthma attacks, as a form of respiratory ailment, are also very common among millions of little children. Apart from using steroids, which are believed to have negative side effects in the long run, there are still many other alternatives on how to cure asthma. Of course, it would start first by keeping your surroundings clean and dust-free all of the time.
