How to Curl Eyelashes

Curly eyelashes are captivating, especially when they look natural. Learn how to curl eyelashes to enhance your appearance. It is ideal to include this task in your daily makeup regimen. Here are the basic steps to follow:

  1. The easiest way to curl eyelashes is to use an eyelash curler. Invest in a good eyelash curler to make the job easier. The investment will add up to about US$20.00, but the curler will last a long time. To start with, clean and dry your eyelashes. Attempting to curl wet eyelashes will only succeed in bending them. The results will be far from the full, curly eyelashes you desire.

  2. Apply eyeliner and eye shadow initially then let them dry before curling your eyelashes. Make sure you do the same for both eyes. Retouch them if you need to before you start curling your lashes.

  3. Open the curler and position your upper eye lashes inside its mouth. Slightly close your eyes and open them again. All the lashes should fit into the curler’s mouth.

As you hold the eyelash curler, its mouth should be parallel to your lashes. Some people would suggest heating the eyelash curler using a hair blower for lasting results. But chances are that the heated curler would touch your eyelid or eye, injuring it. It’s better not to take this chance.

  4. Move the curler closer to your eyes until it reaches the base of your lashes. It should not be positioned over the skin of your eyelid, though. You can make adjustments until you are sure of the appropriate position. This is important, so do not rush the process.

  5. Hold your eyes open and slowly close the curler. Your eyelashes should fan out evenly across the upper bar. Hold them in this position for about 3 to 5 seconds, keeping your hand and face steady. Do not press the curler for longer than 5 seconds. Prolonging the process will make the lashes look crimpy instead of curled.

  6. Repeat the above procedure if you want to add volume to your lashes. Also, remember to use the same routine on the lashes of both eyes. If you notice that the effect is asymmetrical, correct it right away. Otherwise, the knowledge that one lash is curlier than the other will ruin your confidence.

Curled eyelashes look full, thick, and distinct. Mascara enhances the curling even further, making the eyes look bigger and brighter. So it is worth your while to learn how to curl eyelashes. If you have shaky hands, try controlling them to avoid hurting your eyelids or eyes. Exercise your hands regularly to prevent them from getting stiff or from trembling.
