How to Eliminate Body Odor

Body odor is a turn-off. Wearing the best clothes, accessories, shoes and other fashion ornaments will not make a difference if you have body odor. So it is important to learn how to eliminate body odor. Never try to cover it up with perfume. Body odor is even stronger when mixed with perfume. Here are steps you should take to deal with the problem:

  1. Make a habit of bathing every day. If your body odor is severe, then consider taking a bath twice a day. You can schedule it first thing in the morning when you wake up and again in the evening just before you retire. Use soap and bath gels and focus on your underarm and on the other areas that get sweaty fast. Use a clean towel to dry your body.

  2. Change into fresh clothes after every bath. Wash your clothes after wearing them. If you reuse them without washing, the dirt and bacteria will make you smell bad. It defeats the purpose of taking a bath when you wear dirty clothes.

  3. Keep your clothes where there is enough ventilation to keep them smelling fresh and clean.

Also make sure that they are completely dry before you fold and store them. Keeping damp clothes inside a cabinet will only make them smell bad. Bacteria easily propagate in a damp environment and will contaminate your body.

  4. Use a deodorant or antiperspirant of the right strength, considering the intensity of your body odor. Make a point of applying it in your armpits after every bath. If your only problem is sweating, then you just need an antiperspirant. Powdered Alum or Tawas is effective. Apply it in both armpits in small amounts daily.

  5. Avoid eating spicy and fried foods. They just add to your body odor. Switch to a healthy diet, including vegetables, cereals, oats and fruits. Consider steaming, grilling or boiling your main entrées instead of frying them.

  6. Wash your hands as frequently as possible. When your hands are dirty, especially with finger foods, they start to smell after a while. You might unintentionally touch another part of your body and worsen the existing body odor.

  7. Brush your teeth at least twice a day. Gargle with any commercially available mouthwash. Floss your teeth to remove food particles from between them. If they decompose in your mouth, you will have bad breath, which will add to your body odor.

  8. Consult a doctor if your body odor persists even after following all of the above suggestions. You might have a hormone disorder that causes excessive sweating and produces bad odor. Treatment might be needed to correct this. There are also underlying diseases that cause bad breath.

  9. Quit smoking and avoid places where people smoke. Smoke from cigarettes will stick to your skin and clothing. So, even if you are not the one smoking, you will smell of cigarette smoke.

  10. Drink plenty of water every day. This facilitates inner cleansing, eliminating toxic wastes from the body.

It is important to learn how to eliminate body odor if you don’t want those close to you to avoid you. Let’s face it. It is very difficult to tolerate body odor. It is also humiliating to be on the receiving end of this rejection.
