How to Get Rid of Acne Naturally

Acne is a skin condition characterized not by an occasional pimple, but by many skin eruptions of zits and pimples. Aside from being unsightly, it can also make the affected area uncomfortable. Acne often affects the face. Most people experience acne in their teenage years, but older people can have acne as well. There are many products that claim to reduce or cure acne, but you might want to try natural methods first, as most acne medications are expensive and harsh on the skin. Make sure to skip any suggested treatments that involve items you’re allergic or sensitive to. Here are ways for how to get rid of acne naturally.

  1. Wash your face twice daily

    The main causes of acne are dirt or grime and oil or grease that build up on your face as you go about your day. Wash your face with warm water and a mild facial bar when you wake up in the morning and before sleeping at night. This will remove the dust from air pollution and dead skin cells. Washing twice daily is the appropriate frequency; if you wash your face more often, it will dry up your skin regardless of whether it is dry or oily.

    Here’s a recipe for a natural facial cleanser: Dice one pear and blend it on high. Pour in one-half cup of extra virgin olive oil and blend some more.

  2. Ice it

Wrap some ice cubes or crushed ice in a piece of cloth such as a handkerchief. Apply it to the affected area for several seconds. Repeat after several minutes.

  3. Use toothpaste

    Many former pimple and acne sufferers swear by the quick effects of toothpaste in reducing pimples. Make sure you use the white toothpaste type and not the gel versions. Apply the toothpaste on your zit and leave it there for at least thirty minutes. If you plan to leave the toothpaste on overnight, you can put a Band-Aid on it to prevent it from rubbing off onto your linen. If this is done after the ice method, your acne will heal considerably.

  4. Apply lemon juice

    Squeeze the juice from a lemon into a small bowl. Dip a cotton bud or Q-tip, or cotton ball in the juice and apply to the acne after washing your face and before sleeping. The Vitamin C in the lemon juice dries up the pimples more quickly. You can also mix a tablespoon of lemon juice with a teaspoon of cinnamon powder and apply the resulting paste to your face and leave it overnight.

  5. Exercise

    Exercise has always been said to be good for the health, but you may not know that it will help your skin to be healthy too. Working up a sweat regularly clears out your pores by pushing out the dead skin cells. Exercising helps relieve stress, which is one of the factors that cause the skin to produce more oil. Make sure that you wear breathable clothing like cotton instead of synthetic materials or clothes that are too tight or snug-fitting. The repeated friction between the skin and clothes or athletic gear can cause the acne. Ditch the elastic sweatband on your forehead and pat off sweat gently with a soft towel instead. Don’t forget to shower after you exercise to remove the dead skin cells and salt that sweating produces.
