How to Get Rid of Acne Overnight

If you want to find out how to get rid of acne overnight, you have your pick of many home and over-the-counter remedies. The best time to deal with pimples is when they appear, not later, when they’re infected. When treating acne at home, make sure your face and hands are clean. Acne is caused by sebum and dirt that are trapped in the pores; touching your face with dirty hands will worsen the problem. So make sure to wash your hands thoroughly, and also wash your face with a gentle cleanser. Gentle is the operative word here: Harsh cleansers will strip your face of its natural oils and encourage your skin to produce more sebum, thus continuing a vicious cycle. Minimize skin irritation by using a gentle cleanser and touch your face as little as possible. After the preliminary cleaning, you can try one of the following remedies:

    1. Use an ice pack or wrap an ice cube in soft cloth (like a cotton t-shirt) then hold it to the spot for about 10 to 15 minutes. You may lift the ice then put it right back on if you can’t stand the cold. Using ice will constrict the blood vessels and shrink the pimple.

f you have benzoyl peroxide, apply it on the pimple right after the ice treatment and re-apply it three or four times in the night.

    2. Dab some white toothpaste on the spot and leave it on overnight. Gel toothpaste doesn’t work. The ingredients in white toothpaste cause the pimple to dry up and greatly minimize the redness and swelling.

    3. The juice from a freshly-squeezed lemon, dabbed on the pimple and left overnight, serves the same purpose as toothpaste.

    4. Tea tree oil is another effective remedy. Depending on your skin type, a more effective method would entail steaming your face, washing it as described above, and then applying tea tree oil. To steam, boil a pot of water. Turn off the stove and move the pot to a convenient place, like the table or counter. Position your face over the pot; better yet, use a towel to cover both your head and the pot so that the steam is trapped and concentrated on your face for as long as you can stand the heat. This will open up the pores and help the trapped sebum and dirt to escape. Then wash your face as described above before dabbing tea tree oil on the spot. Leave it on overnight. The next day, the pimple will be completely dried up, leaving your face blemish-free.

    5. Exfoliate by mixing some baking soda with toothpaste until it becomes a thick paste, and gently rubbing your face all over, but concentrating your efforts on the affected part. After rinsing it off, dab some of the baking soda–toothpaste mixture on the pimple and, again, leave it on overnight.

Whatever method you may want to try, do not give in to temptation and pop your pimple. This is a big no-no. Popping a pimple can cause deep scarring and – even worse – infection. If you adopt this course of action, instead of a zit on your face, you could end up with a big, painful abscess. Because each person’s skin structure, lifestyle, and diet vary, acne remedies work differently from person to person. A particular method may work for one person, but not for another. Familiarity with your skin type will help you find a good solution faster. Experimenting with various methods should help you find the one that works best for you. From then on, you will know how to get rid of acne overnight in the way that’s best suited to your skin.
