How to Get Rid of Body Acne

How to get rid of body acne might just be asked as often as how to get rid of facial acne. People with acne often have it not just on their faces but also on their bodies. Acne is acne, wherever it occurs on the body. The causes are the same, and the treatment is the same. Dead skin, dirt, and oil clogging the pores cause acne. The problem can be even more pronounced on the body—usually on the shoulders, neck, chest, and back—than on the face. The body is almost always clothed, and the fabrics absorb dirt, sweat, and oil and rub them back onto the skin, thereby worsening the problem. So how can people be free of body acne?

  1. Use sulfur soap, exfoliate, and practice a good skin-care regimen. Sulfur soap, or other soaps that contain acne-fighting ingredients, help heal acne. During a bath or shower, gently exfoliate your skin with a loofah or a wet wash cloth. This will help clean your skin and clear it of impurities. But don’t scrub too hard because this will just make the sebaceous glands produce more oil, and the problem will get worse.

taking a shower every day, keeping clean and exfoliating, you keep oil, dirt, and bacteria from collecting on your skin and causing acne. Twice a week, you can apply a mask made of equal parts baking soda and water on your skin to soothe the skin irritation, reduce inflammation and redness, and inhibit infection. The paste also serves to clean and unclog pores. Leave the mask on for 20 to 30 minutes before rinsing it off. You can also apply tea tree oil, salicylic acid, or other topical treatments on pimples. Do not pop or break any pimples because this will increase the injury to the skin and may cause an infection.

  2. Keep the area clean and dry. Wear breathable fabrics like cotton and linen or those that have wicking properties, i.e., high-tech fabrics that draw moisture away from the body. Clothes made of these materials will keep you dry. As sweat and moisture that stay on your skin will encourage the increase of bacteria, clog the pores, and irritate the acne further, always bring a change of clothes.

  3. Eat a balanced diet, drink plenty of water, and exercise regularly. Having a healthy body will strengthen and improve your body’s ability to fight diseases, infections, and health problems from the inside. Eat less oily, processed, and salty food; have more whole grains, fruits, nuts, vegetables, fish, especially those that are rich in Omega 3, protein, and non-fat dairy. As for water, it is a major health necessity. It cleanses and hydrates the body and helps keep the skin supple and able to heal itself. Moreover, exercise not only improves general well-being, but it also helps the body work up a sweat, thus flushing dirt and toxins out of the pores to keep it unclogged. Provided you keep your clothes clean and dry and regularly maintain a proper anti-acne regimen, sweating out is very beneficial for your body as well as your skin.

Body acne can be unsightly and painful. Although it is mostly covered, acne on the body is more prone to further irritation due to close contact with clothes and rubbing against everyday items, such as bag straps, backpacks, seatbelts, and so on. Care and attention are required to make sure that the affected area is always clean and dry and to maintain a good skin-care regimen. But it all pays off in the end when the acne goes away and is prevented from occurring again. Reading the methods mentioned ensures you know how to get rid of body acne.
