How to Get Rid of Body Odor Fast

How to get rid of body odor, that embarrassing, annoying, unpleasant condition that undermines your confidence, is a good question. The good news is that barring a serious medical condition, body odor has a simple remedy if you have the patience and perseverance to follow a body care regimen. Simple does not mean effortless, however. You have to make a habit of certain hygienic practices and keep doing them, for life. But doing so becomes easy and routine after a while. When it becomes a habit, we do it without any effort. So what are these things? They come in three categories.

  1. Diet. Much of our body odor comes from inside the body, from the food we eat and drink, the chemical processes that goes on within us, and the toxins that collect inside. Some foods, particularly meats and spices with strong odors, tend to make the body sweat and smell more. Since these foods are important for health and cannot be eliminated entirely, you can at least minimize their intake, especially during times when you know you will be sweating a lot. So when you’re set to participate in a marathon, do manual labor, or dance, for example, then it’s better stay to avoid these foods: Dieticians mention such vegetables and spices as onion, garlic, hot pepper, chili, cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower.

airy and red meat are foods are to be avoided as well. Moreover, increase whole grains and fiber in your diet. Drink plenty of water. Water is very beneficial for hydration, cleansing the body, and minimizing the accumulation of enzymes and body gases, which tend to seep out through the pores. Water also serves as a natural means of detoxification.

  2. Dermatology. Take a shower at least once a day; twice, if you can manage it, morning and evening. Use a body wash or soap with anti-bacterial properties. After your shower, pat your skin with baby talc, baking soda, or cornstarch to absorb moisture. Apply deodorant or antiperspirant on underarms and feet, although lemon juice and alum are more effective options. Use a fresh-smelling scent if you want, but don’t attempt to hide lack of hygiene with perfume; it only worsens the odor problem. Exfoliate once or twice a week with a homemade sugar scrub of regular refined or brown sugar (not a sugar substitute) moistened with a little vegetable oil. Once a week, soak your feet in vinegar for 20 to 30 minutes before going to bed.

  3. Discipline. Bacteria on the skin that mix with sweat and dirt cause odor. These bacteria are part of our normal lives, so consistent discipline is necessary to prevent odor and keep it off. Most of these bacteria are helpful and necessary for keeping the natural balance of the skin. To eliminate the odor, however, it is necessary to keep the skin dry and as sweat-free as possible, particularly in areas where sweat tends to get trapped like the underarms. You can keep dry by wearing loose clothing, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen, or fabrics with wicking properties that absorb moisture and draw it away from the skin. Change clothing daily, particularly underwear, and wash clothing after each use. Always carry spare clothes so you can change out of sweaty clothes when you need to.

By adopting these tips on diet, dermatology and discipline changes you need to make in your lifestyle, you can start smelling good and solve your problem of previously not knowing how to get rid of body odor fast.
