How to Heal Dry Peeling Skin on Face

How to Heal Dry Peeling Skin on Face

Some people may suffer from peeling skin on their face at one point or another. Using powder makeup can look bad, and you definitely should not peel off the skin. You risk clogging your pores or irritating your dermis when you do so. Instead, try the following tips on how to heal dry peeling skin on face:

  1. Wash your face with warm water and a mild, non-comedogenic exfoliating facial wash, taking care to do so with gentle and circular strokes. This will help slough off the dead skin cells and reduce the flakiness. It will also help your skin absorb the therapeutic topical solutions you will apply later.

  2. When drying, avoid rubbing a towel across your face. Instead, pat your skin dry gently with a soft towel. Allow your face to stay a bit moist to keep it hydrated.

  3. Apply a non-comedogenic moisturizer containing lactic acid so the dryness subsides and the flaking layer gets stripped off. You may need to reapply later during the day.

  4. If the moisturizer isn't enough to treat the dryness, try soaking a small washcloth in ice-cold whole milk.

Lay this milky cloth across your face and leave it there for about 10 minutes. The milk will help rehydrate your dermis, while the cool temperature can minimize the redness.

  5. Avoid using drying products, such as astringents and alcohol-based toners and beauty products. These can irritate and make your skin flake even more.

  6. Keep out of the sun and protect your face from the elements to prevent further dryness. A chilly breeze can also trigger or aggravate the problem, so cover up when you step outdoors and use an umbrella. If itÂ’s hot, go out when the heat is not as intense.

  7. Use non-alcohol-based facial sprays throughout the day to refresh and hydrate your skin without the risk of clogging your pores.

  8. You may also have an aloe vera mask, as this ingredient is highly beneficial to the skin due to its healing properties. Apply aloe gel or sap from a fresh aloe leaf on your face and massage it into your skin gently using circular strokes. Leave it on for 15 minutes before washing it off. You can do this once a week.

  9. Avoid using facial powders or concealers while you're treating your skin to prevent further complications. You may use a tinted moisturizer or BB cream instead.

  10. Use light strokes when applying makeup and clean your applicators regularly so you prevent infection.

  11. If you shave your facial hair, stop for the meantime, as this can dry out your skin and aggravate the flaking.

  12. Drink a lot of water so you hydrate your skin from the inside. Dehydration can aggravate your facial flaking problem.

  13. Consider using a humidifier, especially at night while you sleep. Cold or hot air is drying.

  14. If home remedies and other precautionary measures don't seem to work for you, see a dermatologist or a medical professional. It's possible that your skin condition may be a symptom of a health issue. Treating it may resolve the flaking and dryness.

When figuring out how to heal dry peeling skin on face, it's important to follow these steps consistently so that you promote healing and get your skin healthy.
