How to Install PVC Fencing

If you are looking for a fencing alternative that is not only pleasant to the eyes but also to your pocket, look no further than PVC fencing. Unlike wood, wear and tear are not likely for quite a long time. Know how to install PVC fencing using pre-manufactured panels. You just have to do some assembling on top of the basic preparations, but they are normally manageable. Just follow these instructions:

  1. There are necessary measurements that must be marked off properly to make PVC fencing installation successful. Consider the area to be covered by the fence before purchasing the fence. Use the stakes and string to guide you in your marking tasks. Remember to leave room for adjustments when measuring for the location of corner posts. This should allow the string to pass through correctly. The ends of the PVC fence must correspond to the positions of the posts. Estimate the gate opening while determining the positions of the posts.

  2. Dig 10 inch wide holes and make them at least 2 feet deep. To be very stable, one third of the post must be buried underground. Adding another 4 inches to the depth will lead to better results. This can be filled up with gravel at the bottom of the hole for draining purposes.

  3. Add water to the concrete mix to create a firm mass. Place some of this mixture into the hole and insert the post. Level the surface at the base of the post to match the vertical axis. Add more cement so as not to create hollow portions that can store water. Tie a string on the installed post before moving on to the next one. They must be correctly aligned with each other. Do the same to the others with 8 feet intervals in case of a wider area.

  4. Even if the fence is pre-fabricated, it may not be assembled. It is delivered in panels. The rail brackets and rail hangers can be screwed to the PVC fence. Assemble the fence by sliding the continuing panel to the rail brackets. You can then secure them in place by screwing the panels into the hangers.

  5. Install the gate, following the directions that come with the manufacturer’s delivery. The gates are normally leveled at the bottom, the same as the fence, so this must be observed during installation. Level the lumber by cutting it into 2X4 pieces and fit them at the insides of the two opposing gate posts. They must support the latching of the pre-designed gate. Tightly screw the hinges and latches but make sure that it is fully functional, especially when opening and closing the gates.

  6. Gluing the post tops to hold them in place will be the finishing touch. Before sticking the glued parts together, hold them in place first to see if they will be fitted nicely.
