Here are some tips on how to lighten skin naturally.

  1. Use a cucumber

    Cucumber retains water and is a widely-known remedy for puffy eyes. In addition, it helps lighten your skin. It can brighten the eye area. If you have oily to normal skin, cucumber will be effective. Grate a cucumber and gently rub it on your skin for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing. It helps clear the skin and prevents blackheads and pimples too.

    For a similar effect, you can also mix a tablespoon of cucumber juice and a tablespoon of raw milk. Pat the mixture gently on the skin and leave it on for several minutes before rinsing. When you eat cucumber and drink milk regularly, you will notice that your skin will improve as well.


  2. Sandalwood and milk mask

    If you can get red sandalwood powder, try this mask. Mix a tablespoon of red sandalwood powder with a tablespoon of milk. Rub the mixture on the skin and leave it on for 30 minutes before washing it off. If you do this daily, you will notice shortly that not only is your skin lighter overall, but the dark patches and discolorations also are lighter.

  3. Use yogurt

    Yogurt, which is essentially fermented milk, has lightening effects on the skin as well. When you use yogurt as a mask, make sure that it is plain. Combine a tablespoon of fresh yogurt with half a teaspoon of honey. Apply as a mask and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing. Honey has a moisturizing effect on the skin, and repeated use of the mask will result in lighter and softer skin.

    For those with oily skin, try a mask containing two tablespoons of yogurt and a tablespoon of tomato juice or orange juice. Leave the mask on until it dries before washing it off. Do this two times a week, and you will notice that the oiliness of your skin has been reduced along with a perceptible lightening of skin tone.

  4. Lighten with lemon

    For centuries, people have been lightening skin with lemon juice. This is because the acidity of the lemon helps bleach skin and encourages new skin cells to grow. When using lemon on your skin, make sure that there are no open wounds; otherwise, it will be painful. Soak a cotton ball with fresh lemon juice and apply it to the face. You can leave it on without rinsing.

    Take a tablespoon of lemon juice and mix it with a tablespoon of tomato juice. Apply and leave on for several minutes before cleansing. This is good for those with normal to oily skin.

As you follow these tips on how to lighten skin naturally, make sure that you put on sunblock whenever you go out. This is a good practice even if you are not taking steps to lighten your skin. When you follow the steps above, your skin will be more sensitive to the sun because new skin cells are being produced more rapidly. The sun has a darkening effect on the skin as well, so sunblock will prevent the sun from undoing your hard work.
