Nowadays, many agree life begins much later. Hitting the big 5-0 doesn't mean it's time for loose clothing and more sedate activities. You still can enjoy life and even learn how to look sexy at 50. To do just that, follow these pointers:

  1. A significant aspect of taking off years from your age is your clothing. Avoid wearing loose-fitting outfits, as these make you look frumpy and older than you are. Go for clothes that fit right so you have a smooth silhouette and a sleek look. If you need to mask your belly, consider one-piece dresses made of a non-clingy fabric. Those with slimming prints (horizontal stripes, for example) hide your curvy areas.

  2. Avoid trendy pieces, as it's difficult to pair or re-use them without having people notice that you have done so. Also, you may end up looking like you're obviously trying to dress younger. Some styles are not as suitable for you, so opt for classic looks that won't go out of style a decade or more from now. If you must add something trendy to your outfit, it should be in the form of an accessory, such as a scarf, neckpiece, or belt.

    For example, you could wear a polka dot scarf and pair it with a solid color that matches the scarf's shade.

  3. Get clothes that mask your flaws and highlight your assets. If you have a long neck, wear V-neck blouses or dresses. If you have a great pair of legs, wear knee-length outfits.

  4. Show a bit of skin, instead of covering up from neck to toe. If you're already showing your legs, you can wear sleeved tops, or alternatively, show them off as well with a sleeveless option. If you want to cover up your arms and legs, consider a low neck top or shoulder-revealing clothing.

  5. Don't be afraid of color. Wearing bold or bright colors help you look fresh and young.

  6. Find jeans suitable for your 50-year-old physique. Pair these with neutral pieces, plus one bright accessory to keep the look youthful.

  7. Work out: Exercise slows down the aging process and keeps you looking trim, fit, and toned, not to mention sexy. Engage in physical activities that you enjoy doing, as long as they get your heart pumping and your sweat going.

  8. Consider changing your hair color to a lighter shade. This melts a few years off your age. Highlights can also liven up your appearance. Just make sure that you touch them up regularly.

  9. Take care of your skin. Drink a lot of water, sleep at least 7 hours each night, and moisturize your skin daily. If you're going outdoors, wear sunscreen to keep wrinkles and sun damage at bay.

Less is more; that's how to look sexy at 50. This also applies to makeup, which means you should go for a natural, dewy look if you want to look youthfully alluring. However, if you're going for the smoky eye look, pair this with a nude lip, instead of scarlet red.
