How to Lose Love Handles and Belly Fat

A certain level of body fat is necessary for the body to function properly. After all, vitamins like A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble; therefore, without sufficient fat, their absorption into the body may be compromised. Too much fat, however, especially in undesirable areas like the stomach area, can come in the form of love handles. With persistence and the right knowledge, you can shed some fat.   1. Eat the right kind of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are either simple or complex. If you want to lose belly fat, you should consume complex carbs. This is because your body takes more time to digest complex carbs, and they prevent sugar slumps—drowsiness, lethargy, and lack of ability to concentrate—that often come with high-sugar diets. But in modern times, the best way to trick the body into not storing every morsel of excess glucose as fat is to eat small meals every couple of hours, so you only use up whatever is available. This makes it less likely for your food to move directly from your lips to your hips.

  4. Move your body every chance you get. Regular, run-of-the-mill exercise works best, but don't slouch in the chair or get welded to the couch for the rest of the day. Get up and move about every few hours; perhaps walk up and down the stairs, or get busy in the garden before the sun sets, or simply stretch in between breaks. The point is to work the muscles at regular intervals and not just in one fell 30-minute swoop in the morning.

  5. Eat your last meal of the day a several hours before bed. By finishing up dinner early, you avoid stressing your digestive system while your muscles wind down and prepare to call it a day. You also avoid the unpleasant consequence of acid reflux, which only happens if your stomach is still full and your gastric acid sloshes around to digest food. If you happen to be supine while your stomach is still busy, you risk eroding the sensitive lining of your esophagus and larynx with corrosive acid.

Fat in all the wrong places can be challenging to shed, but with discipline, learning how to lose love handles and belly fat can be painless and become a lifestyle.
