How to Make Bath Fizzies

Also known as bath bombs, bath fizzies add a touch of luxury to your bath. Using bath fizzies in your bath can make you feel like you are in a spa, even though you just created them at home. After all, they are pretty easy to make, as the ingredients for making bath fizzies are common enough to be found in your local stores or even around your house. If you want to enjoy a luxurious, scented bath in your own bathtub, here are the steps for how to make bath fizzies:

    1. Prepare all the things that you will need for creating bath fizzies. You should prepare

5 tablespoons of a vegetable oil, such as coconut, olive, or avocado oil

      4 drops of food coloring

1 teaspoon of fragrance oil, like peppermint or lavender

      8 ounces of baking soda

      2 tablespoons of cornstarch

      6 tablespoons of citric acid

Aside from the ingredients, you should also have two mixing bowls and waxed paper or plastic molds.

Glass mixing bowls work best because they are non-reactive.

  1. In one of the mixing bowls, combine the dry ingredients¬ócornstarch, citric acid, and baking soda. Sift them to make sure that there are no clumps in the mixture.

  2. In a separate bowl, mix the food coloring, fragrance oil, and vegetable oil. Remember that the fragrance and food coloring are optional and customizable. It all depends on your preferences.

  3. Slowly pour the oil mixture into the bowl of combined dry ingredients. Do not pour too fast as this can make your mixture fizz quickly. If you are creating a foamy texture, you should pour the liquid more slowly. It is best to add one teaspoon of the oil mixture at a time. Mix them well until the texture becomes crumbly enough to hold its shape when squeezed with your hands. You may add a little water as needed to achieve the right consistency.

  4. Once all the ingredients have been combined, roll the mixture into one-inch balls and set them on the waxed paper to dry, or pour it into the plastic molds. Remember to work quickly so that your mixture does not fizz. Leave them to set without disturbing them for 24 to 48 hours. At this point, they will be hardened and fully dry and ready for storage

  5. After 24 to 48 hours, you can store your bath fizzies in a sealed container. Make sure that the container is moisture-free. If you are planning to give these bath fizzies away to your friends, you may also place them in individual candy cups or wrap them in cellophane with a ribbon for a more presentable and festive look.

  6. Remember to use the bath fizzies within two weeks, as storing them for a longer period of time might cause them to lose their fizz.

Remember that there are many different variations that you can create, so there may be more than one method of knowing how to make bath fizzies. You can opt to create plain-colored bath fizzies by omitting the food coloring. The choice of fragrance is also up to you, since you can choose the scent based on the effect that you want to achieve. For instance, a eucalyptus scent will help relieve sinus and respiratory ailments, while a fruit tangerine scent will help produce a calming effect, a good choice if you are stressed. Bath fizzies make great personalized gifts, so have be creative and have fun wrapping them up in different presentations.
