how to make bubble gum

Chewy and aromatic sweetened confections are patronized even if they don’t have nutritive value. They come in various flavors that will suit willing chewers. These are used for breath fresheners and thirst quenchers. How to make bubble gum has now become a tradition in many countries. Families that were very experimental with the process in the past still hold an empire of their bubble gum businesses at present. Their success has been passed down through the generations. Bubble gum making is an exciting activity for older children from six years old and above. There are five standard ingredients to formulate the tried-and-tested recipe that has worked ever since ancient makers discovered the source of organic latex from the plants themselves. The milky white but sticky fluid found in fruits like jackfruit is a main component in rubber manufacturing. Follow this recipe and you’ll never go wrong:

  1. Prepare a microwavable container. Add 2 tablespoons of corn syrup, ¼ teaspoon of citric acid, and 1 teaspoon of glycerin to the 1/3 cup of gum base in the container.

t on high heat for 1 minute. This mixture should create a half pound of gum.

  2. Make sure that the mixture is stirred well. Heat up for another 30 seconds if not melted. You can then add flavoring extracts to the mixture. About 5 to 6 drops will be sufficient. Do some more stirring. Mints and menthols are the best flavors for mouth fresheners. Fruit flavors can vary according to the fruits you like.

  3. Take the container out of the microwave to test its consistency. Continue to reheat at 30-second intervals until the mixture becomes mushy. Try to get the right texture here because this is what makes bubble gum more enjoyable to chew. If they are too hard, they might trigger jaw pain. There will be no challenge chewing very soft gums as well. The sweetness of the confection will just be drained out in no time.

  4. Pour ½ cup of powdered sugar onto a flat and clean worktable. Draw it together to form a mound. Create a well in the pile of sugar in the middle with your finger where you will then pour the gum base mixture. It should look like a tiny volcano.

  5. Fill your fingers with powdered sugar and massage the sugar together with the gum base for 15 minutes or so. Stop massaging when the dough is soft enough. You can add more sugar if you can’t get rid of the stickiness.

  6. Roll the dough into a snake-like form with your hands. An inch wide is ideal. Using kitchen scissors, cut it into pieces. Determine your preferred bite size so that you can follow through with your homemade bubble gum. No need to experiment on this because this has been tested by experts in the bubble gum industry.

  7. Sprinkle the gum with a little powdered sugar. This will prevent the pieces from sticking to each other. Wrap each piece in waxed paper. Other alternatives include Saran wrap or   Ziploc bags.

You may not be able to compete with the giant bubble gum manufacturers with all their state-of-the-art processing equipment and experience in bubble gum making, but you can certainly organize an unforgettable bubble gum party for children at your home. You can showcase your newly-found skill on how to make bubble gum to your young audience as the highlight of the event. You will amaze not only the children but also their parents with how you can pull this thing off. It really does pay to do something to satisfy our curiosity if it only takes one click online.
