    g. ½ cup cocoa powder

    h. 1 teaspoon baking soda

    i. ½ teaspoon salt

    j. ½ cup of buttermilk

    k. ½ cup of coffee (1 teaspoon instant coffee in 1/2 cup hot water will do)

  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This can take around 3 to 5 minutes.

  4. Add 2 large eggs one at a time, and make sure to beat well each time. Then, add in the vanilla extract.

  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cake flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Make sure there isn’t any clumping.

  6. Then, add the dry ingredients from Step 5 to the creamed mixture in step 4. Beat well together until mixed well, and the batter is free of lumps. Afterward, add in buttermilk and coffee, and beat it together.

  7. Pour the batter into cupcake liners. Fill each two-thirds of the way.

  8. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. To make sure that they’re done, poke a toothpick into the middle of a cupcake. If the toothpick comes out clean, they’re done.

  9. Take the cupcakes out of the oven, remove them from the baking pans, and let them cool completely.

  10. Frost the cupcakes, add decorations or toppings, then enjoy!

These cupcakes pair well with any kind of frosting imaginable, but if you prefer to go the classic route, top it with good old vanilla frosting.
