How to Make Hair Silky and Shiny

How to Make Hair Silky and Shiny

Who doesn’t want cascading locks of healthy, shiny, and silky hair? Gorgeous hair is on everyone’s wish list. Fortunately for you, you can make your dream come true by following these tips on how to make hair silky and shiny. Here're the steps:

  1. Avoid shampoos and hair products that contain sulphates and alcohols.

Shampoos often contain sodium laureth sulphate or sodium lauryl sulphate. These create the suds that we like when we massage them into our scalp. However, sulphates damage the hair and contribute to frizzy and rough hair. In the long run, choosing a sud-free shampoo is a small sacrifice to make for the sake of healthy hair. Alcoholic ingredients in shampoos, hair gels, and mousses dry out the hair, increasing the risk of breakage and frizz.

Aloe vera is nutritious for hair. Choose shampoo with aloe vera or mix a little aloe vera gel with your shampoo when you wash your hair. As an alternative, adding a little baking soda to shampoo makes the hair squeaky clean.

n addition, there are hair products specifically designed to add shine to hair. Those with a high silica or calcium content are more beneficial to the hair.

It’s ironic that shine-enhancing products like silicone sprays add a film to your hair and weigh it down so that it looks flat and lifeless. The film also covers up the hair’s natural shine when used frequently, so don’t use it every day.

  2. Try home remedies.

There are a lot of ways to get shiny, silky hair using natural items from the supermarket. It goes without saying that you should avoid such preparations if you have a known allergy to any of their ingredients. You can also ask your friends and family with great hair or with hair texture similar to yours about their favourite DIY hair regimen.

It is a good habit to always rinse your hair with cold water after shampooing or rinsing with home remedies. The cold closes the hair cuticle; whereas hot water strips the hair of its oil, softness, and shine.

Vinegar is useful for a lot of things: cooking, cleaning, and even hair rinsing. A simple solution of one part water and three parts white vinegar restores the proper pH level to your hair, helps remove build up, and gives luster to it. Let the vinegar solution sit for 5-10 minutes in your hair, then rinse with shampoo as needed. Don’t worry; the vinegar smell will disappear from the hair when it dries. Similarly, lemon juice with water gives your hair shine and a bouncy look. A warning though: lemon should be avoided if you have dyed hair, as it may lighten the color of the dye.

Items you would normally throw out can be used for hair rinses too. Boil used tea leaves or tea bags in water, let the tea cool, and then use it as a last rinse after shampooing. Flat beer, from which the fizz has already evaporated, is a great conditioner. A cup of espresso, left on the hair for 20 minutes, gives it a beautiful glow. So does leftover apple pulp or apple juice, applied to dry hair and rinsed after half an hour.

Honey lotion made by mixing 3 teaspoons of honey into a pint of water moisturizes the scalp to give your hair a silky feel.

  3. Shine from the inside.

A regular scalp massage improves circulation in the scalp and helps keep the hair healthy. It can be part of your regular, full body massage or a daily practice for when you shampoo. Massaging with almond or coconut oil conditions the scalp and adds shine to your hair. Almond oil is notable for encouraging hair growth.

Another way to stimulate circulation is to brush regularly. Use wooden combs and brushes with natural bristles. Plastic combs and brushes induce static and weaken the hair.

Add good fats, such as avocados, nut oils, and olive oil to your diet. Eating protein, including eggs and fish oil, makes the hair shiny because hair is made up of protein. Take a biotin supplement if your diet lacks this vitamin. Following a healthy diet and lifestyle is the easiest step to take if you want to know how to make hair silky and shiny.
