There are many treats you can buy from your local pet shop, but you can’t be sure how nutritious and fresh they are. The best way to make sure is to make them yourself. You can be very creative and prepare a different variety each time. Your darling pet cat will surely love you more for this effort. All you will need are simple ingredients and your oven. Here is how to make homemade cat treats:

  1. Beefy balls make great cat treats. Combine ¼ cup of ground beef with the same amount of water, ½ cup of white flour, ¼ cup of mashed carrots and 1 tablespoon full of margarine. When a cookie-like consistency is achieved, form them into balls and arrange in a baking pan. Baking time is 25 minutes in a 350 degrees pre-heated oven. You just made a wonderful treat for your pet cat.

  2. For a cheesy treat, combine ½ cup of grated cheddar cheese, 5 tablespoons full of grated parmesan cheese, ½ cup flour, ¼ cup yoghurt and also a ¼ cup of cornmeal in a bowl. The consistency should be the same as the mixture for baking cookies.

For a chicken liver treat, put in a bowl a ½ cup of boiled chicken liver that was previously blended with a ¼ cup of water.  Add in 1 cup whole wheat or white flour, 1/4 cup of mashed carrots or squash and 1 tablespoon full of margarine. Mix all the ingredients together and make them into bite sizes for cats. Arrange them onto a baking pan and put them in the 325 degrees pre-heated oven for 20 minutes. You can check after 18 minutes to see if they are being baked nicely. They will be ready to give to your beloved pet cat when they cool down.

  5. Now for a chicken crispy treat, put together 1 cup of shredded cooked chicken, without bones of course, 1/3 cup of chicken broth, 1 cup whole wheat flour and ½ cup of cornmeal. Mix everything thoroughly. You can add a little chicken broth to make a rich mixture. Arrange 1 teaspoon full of mixture in a baking pan. There is no need to make it uniform in appearance as you want it look irregularly shaped. Bake for about 20 minutes in your 350 degrees pre-heated oven.  Cool a bit, and it is ready to be served to your adorable pet cat.

You can make your own recipe for cat treats by making use of any available ingredients in your kitchen. This need not be expensive and make sure you do not add any salt or sugar to the mixture. Chocolates are also forbidden, as they are not good for cats. You can give these treats to your cat in between regular feedings, but only if it is not obese. Giving treats will surely add more weight to it, so don’t let the cat overindulge on them. Observe what your cat’s favorites are and make them again in your free time.
