How to Make Your Eyelashes Look Longer

How to Make Your Eyelashes Look Longer

How to make your eyelashes look longer is always a problem for girls with sparse or thin eyelashes. There’s no question that long, full eyelashes emphasize and frame the eyes beautifully and make the face considerably more attractive. A come-hither, seductive, or even wide-eyed innocent look is made more expressive by a thick fringe of eyelashes. So if you want longer eyelashes, here are several options for you. It goes without saying that your eyelashes and any material you use must be clean. The eye area is delicate and the eyelids vulnerable; dirt could lodge into the pores around the eye and cause a sty or inflammation. Below are ways to make the illusion happen.

  1. With cosmetics. Makeup is by far the easiest, quickest way to make your eyelashes look fuller and longer. There are several equipment and products you can use to pull this off: powder, eyeliner, brushes and applicators, mascara, to name a few. To start, apply eyeliner as close to the base of the eyelashes as you can get. This will help make the eyelashes appear fuller and thicker.

You can use any form of eyeliner, whether pencil, cream, or liquid as long as you know it works for you and doesn’t melt or smudge in the middle of the day.

Prep your lashes by curling it with an eyelash curler to make it sweep up and appear longer. The powder bit may surprise you: it is a little-known insider’s trick to give the appearance of lush lashes. Apply powder to your lashes—your face powder or any powder will do—before putting on mascara. The powder will coat the lash and give it volume, plus it will give the mascara something to hold on to and therefore help it last longer. When you finally apply the mascara, sweep the brush over your eyelashes. Some mascaras tend to clump more than others; if this is the case with yours and you don’t want to replace it just yet, just make sure not to overload the brush and allow the mascara to dry before applying another coat if you need to. Using a lighter color mascara on the tip of the lashes is another insider’s trick to give the lashes the illusion of length.

  2. Use falsies. This is another very good, quick option. And it’s guaranteed to boost the look of eyelashes. Again, start with clean eyes and put on eyeliner. Take the false eyelashes and measure it against your eye; usually they are too long and need to be trimmed to fit. Notice that one end has thicker and longer lashes than the other: that is the end that you trim, and it’s the same end that goes on the outer corner of your eye. Be careful not to apply it on the wrong side, it will look weird. After measuring, trim off the excess. Apply a thin (note: thin) line of the eyelash glue on the rim and give it a few seconds to turn tacky. You can blow on it or fan it a bit to hasten the drying. Then quickly apply the falsies very close to the natural lash line. Once in place, quickly press your fake and natural lashes together to blend them in and make it look as natural as possible. You can curl the lashes together and apply mascara if you want.

  3. Get extensions. By far a longer-lasting, more effective solution, these are synthetic eyelashes combined with your natural ones using harder-to-remove, medical grade glue. For this, it is best that you go to professionals who will apply the extensions in a procedure that could take more or less an hour. This option is expensive, but the result could last a few months and require only a few touchups to maintain. There are also home extension kits available on the market, but this needs to be applied by another person who is experienced in doing it, and the results won’t last as long; the extensions will fall out once the real eyelashes fall out.

Before going to bed, make sure to clean your face, especially the eye area, gently but thoroughly. If you opted for extensions, you won’t remove them, of course; but you should still get the eyes clean to ensure the health of your eyes and lashes. You should have no trouble having the appearance of a fuller fringe around your eyes when you choose one of these options on how to make your eyelashes look longer.
