How to Pickle Hard Boiled Eggs

Hard boiled eggs can also be pickled. Hard boiled eggs are commonly served in bars. There are different ways and how to pickle hard boiled eggs. You can use different spices, seasonings and vegetables in making the pickling solution. It is relatively easy to do it but it is important to closely follow the steps to ensure the success of your pickled hard boiled eggs. Making a mistake can spoil your pickled hard boiled eggs and make them entirely uneatable. Try different variations to tickle your egg loving palate. Here is a sample recipe that is easy to follow:

  1. Prepare the needed ingredients: 12 eggs, 1 quart of vinegar, and Ĺ ounce each of allspice, ground pepper and powdered ginger. You would also need a big and sterilized glass jar with lid that can hold 12 hardboiled eggs.

  2. Put the eggs in a cooking pan covering them with cold water. Put on the lid.† Set your stove from medium to high heat. When the water starts to boil, let it simmer for about a minute and turn off the heat. Let the cooking pan sit for ten to fifteen minutes with the lid on.



    This allows the eggs to cook some more time without overcooking them. Your eggs will cook evenly.

  3. Prepare a bowl of cold water. You can even put ice cubes in it. Scoop out each egg and transfer it to the bowl. The sudden change of temperature from hot to cold will make the eggs easier to peel. A perfect hardboiled egg is definitely easy to peel.

  4. Peel the eggs one by one and put them inside the sterilized glass jar. Make sure the egg is smooth with no cuts on the egg white for best results. It is good to keep the perfect shape of the eggs especially if you intend to serve them on get together parties.

  5. In a saucepan, mix together the vinegar, pepper, powdered ginger and allspice. Bring this to a simmer for about ten minutes. Pour the mixture into the jar. Let it cool down and place it inside the refrigerator. It is best to place it in a secluded area of the refrigerator where you donít have to take it out periodically. Pickled eggs should rarely be exposed to room temperature.† They can only tolerate it for about two hours.

  6. Allow the pickled eggs to sit in the refrigerator for two to four weeks. Eat them within three to four months. Donít contaminate them by using a dirty spoon when you want to get some. This is a perfect appetizer or side dish for any meal.

Though it is still not commonly done, it is good to have them in stock since they last a long time.† You can just get one piece and slice it for a starter. It can serve as garnishing for any dish you are preparing. The taste is very interesting and far better than the usual way of how we cook eggs. Carefully follow the steps in this recipe.
