How to Reduce Pimples and Dark Spots

One of the most common skin problems that people deal with is acne or pimples. After painstakingly using products to get rid of pimples, sometimes dark spots and acne marks take their place. They take a lot of time to get rid of, and you can only do so much with makeup. However, before you start or continuing picking at your pimples, you should know that there are several ways to naturally get rid of and prevent them from coming back. Here are some tips on how to reduce pimples and dark spots:

  1. Wash your face twice a day. Do so every morning and every night with oil- and wax-free cleansers in order to clear and unclog your pores. Clogged pores can result in the development of whiteheads and blackheads, which ultimately lead to pimples and dark spots.

  2. Stay out of the sun. The sun radiates ultraviolet rays that damage your skin, which can cause pimples and acne scars to develop. While you cannot completely avoid the sun, you can wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher whenever you go out to protect your skin.

This prevents further darkening of acne marks. You can also wear a hat, scarf, or use an umbrella for added protection.

  3. Try natural home remedies. While there is a lot of anti-acne products on the market, the chemicals they contain might further aggravate your pimples, especially if you have sensitive skin. You can never go wrong with home remedies, since they rely on all-natural ingredients. Here are some examples:

A: Sugar scrub: You can use a sugar scrub to exfoliate at least once a week to remove dead skin cells from the surface and give way for new skin to take its place. Brown sugar is a mild yet effective facial scrub that acts as a good exfoliator. All you need to do is mix 3 teaspoons of brown sugar with 1 teaspoon of honey. Apply the mixture on acne-prone skin in gentle, circular strokes. Let it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing off with cold water.

B: Green tea ice cubes: Green tea contains antioxidants that fight free radicals, which damage the skin. Furthermore, it can kill pimple-causing germs on the surface of your skin. First, make green tea by steeping some in a glass of warm water. Once the water has color to it, pour it in an ice-cube tray, and place it in the freezer until frozen. Steam your face to open up your pores, and then rub a green tea ice cube on your face. Ideally, you should do this in the morning upon waking up and at night before sleeping.

C: Aloe vera gel: People have known about aloe vera’s medicinal properties for a long time. It can heal pimples and scars and prevent skin discoloration. It also has antibacterial properties, which prevents further growth of pimples. Simply get a fresh aloe vera plant, tear off a leaf, and slice it down the middle. Squeeze out the gel and apply it to your face. Let it dry and sit for a few minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.

These three simple tips on how to reduce pimples and dark spots can help you achieve clearer and smoother skin. The important thing to remember is to do these things habitually, as the results do not happen instantly. However, in due time, you will notice your skin becoming free of the pimples and dark spots that used to be your greatest nightmare.
