How to Remove Back Hair

How to Remove Back Hair

Back hair can be rather unsightly, especially during the summer when skin-baring fashions are in season. Unfortunately, for some people, genetic predispositions or hormonal factors cause unwanted hair to sprout in this area. If you need to know how to remove back hair, the good news is that you actually have several options. Whether you have a light, peachy fuzz or a full-blown carpet back there, there’s a solution for you.

  1. Shaving is the most convenient kind of hair removal, but it has its limitations. You can choose to shave your back hair off when there is no other option, but the results will only last for a day or two. Also, a lot of people complain that shaved hair can be annoyingly itchy as it grows in, and that it looks even thicker or coarser. Shaving does not actually change the texture or the volume of the hair though; it just looks that way because you have cut off the hair ends and left the mid-shaft.

  2. If you’re looking for results that last for two or more weeks, go for waxing or sugaring.

oth methods pull out the hair from its roots so that it takes longer to grow back in. Waxing can be done either with cold wax or warmed wax, while sugaring uses a thick, honey-like solution. The main disadvantage of these methods is the pain; also, your hair needs to be at least a few millimeters long so that it can be gripped and yanked off. If you are going away for a summer vacation, a good waxing or sugaring can give you a hairless back for the duration of your trip. However, just make sure to schedule your appointment a day or two before you leave so that any redness or irritation can calm down.

  3. Epilation is also becoming popular, especially for women who would rather save the money that would otherwise be spent on monthly waxing services. Epilation is similar to shaving with an electric razor except that instead of blades scraping across the skin, an epilator has revolving tweezers that grip the hair and pull it out from the roots. There is some pain involved, but just like in waxing, you develop a tolerance. Take note that you have to keep your skin well-exfoliated to prevent ingrown hair.

  4. Laser hair removal uses pulsed light to destroy hair follicles so that they die out and fall off on their own. It’s painless and very effective, but it’s not permanent since the hair follicles will eventually regenerate and grow again. Results can last for three weeks or so, and with repeated consecutive treatments, the hair that grows back becomes finer and finer. With laser hair removal, you can shave your back hair in between treatments, but hair removal methods that pull out the hair from the roots can undo the long-term effects.

  5. And finally, we come to electrolysis, which is the only commercially available hair removal method that is permanent. This method uses tiny needles that slide down into the hair follicles to permanently destroy them so that hair will never grow again. The procedure can take many sessions, especially since individual hair follicles have to be treated, but those looking for a permanent solution may consider this as a practical investment. It may seem expensive but when you consider the amount of money you will be spending on razors, waxes, etc. you may find that this is actually just as cost-effective in the long run. Because of the use of the needles, patients can expect some discomfort, but it can be very tolerable since sessions only last for half an hour and a numbing cream is applied to the area before the start of the procedure.

Figuring out how to remove back hair really depends on the amount of time and money you are willing to allocate. It also mostly depends on your lifestyle. Those who like wearing back-baring clothes need hair removal options that offer more lasting results compared to those who are less bothered with unwanted hair in this area.
