how to save on gasoline

The price of gas is constantly skyrocketing. So it is really wise to save or conserve our gasoline. The simplest way is to lessen our gasoline consumption. However, there are solutions and tricks on how to save on gasoline. The following ways will help you:

  1. Drive only when you really need to. This means that you should schedule when to use your car. By doing this, you will be able to avoid unnecessary driving. If your destination is nearby, you can just walk or bike. That is, if you’re not in a hurry. When you go to work, you can just arrange a ride with your other co-workers if possible.

  2. Choose a car that has great gas mileage. There are cars that consume more gasoline. So when you purchase a car, you should see to it that the car consumes less gas. Remember that there is a great disparity between 20 miles-per-gallon and 30 miles-per-gallon. You should also keep your car in good condition. Vehicles that are in poor condition consume more gasoline than those that are in great shape.

  3. Drive within the speed limit. You should also avoid driving at fast speeds in low gears. Do not do this unless there is a need to lower the compression. Also, accelerate slowly. You are not in a race with the other vehicles, so try to accelerate as slowly as possible and drive at a normal speed.

  4. Use the air conditioner less. Running the air condition can really consume more gasoline. If you really have to use the air condition, make sure to close the windows. Use a lower setting and use it only until the car becomes cool. When the car is cool enough, turn the air conditioner off and use the fan to circulate the air.  When you’re traveling at high speeds, make sure to close your windows. Open windows can drag your gas mileage.

  5. Regularly inspect the pressure of your car’s tires. It is important that you don’t over-inflate the tire because it can lessen the efficiency of the fuel. You should also take unnecessary items out of the car. Make sure that you only bring stuff that you really need.

  6. Do not warm up your vehicle for too long, especially if your car is new. This way, you’ll save more gas. Also, do not idle the car’s engine for too long. If you’re stuck in traffic, you might as well turn your vehicle off. It is always better to avoid the traffic since stopping your car too often can damage your gas mileage.  Avoid rush hours and go to your destination ahead of time.  Avoid revving your car when it is unnecessary. You can turn off your car without revving first.

  7. Keep track of the gasoline price. As much as possible, avoid filling up your tank when there is a price hike. You should fill up your gasoline tank when the gasoline price is low. With this, you will be able to save more money. Stay updated with the price changes of gasoline.

The key solution on how to save on gasoline is to simply be practical and wise. Drive wisely. Remember that you should only use your car when necessary. Maintain the condition of your car and drive at a normal speed.
