How to Shape Eyebrows

How to Shape Eyebrows

The shape of your eyebrows says a lot about you. Others may perceive you to be friendly or irate based on them. That is why it is essential for you to learn how to shape eyebrows. You can subsequently use your brows to your full advantage. If you want to achieve the perfect shape for your brows, here are some tips that you can follow:

  1. The first thing that you need to determine is whether you want to have thick or thin eyebrows. While you can pluck some stray hairs or use an eyebrow pencil to shape your eyebrows, keep in mind that you have to work with what you have to make them look as natural as possible.

  2. Brush your brows in an upward direction. If your brows look uneven, with some strands longer than others, you can use a pair of brow scissors to snip their ends. Then, brush the hairs downward and snip the uneven ones. You need to trim your eyebrow hairs before tweezing to reveal your natural eyebrow shape.

  3. To determine where your eyebrow should start, hold your eyebrow pencil parallel to the bridge of your nose.

It should touch the outermost part of your nose and the inner canthus of your eye. That is the point where your eyebrows should start. You can mark it with your eyebrow pencil. Repeat this step for your other eye. This will work well for those with wide set eyes and those with large foreheads. On the other hand, starting at the inner corner of your eye, regardless of your nose bridge, works well for those with close set eyes or small foreheads.

  4. The next thing you should do is decide how high you should arch your eyebrows. This actually depends on the type of eyes that you have. In general, however, you should place your eyebrow pencil parallel to your iris’s outside corner while looking straight ahead. Another reference point that you can use is the tip of your nose, with the ruler placed diagonally over it and over the pupil. Mark that spot and repeat with your other eye.

  5. To answer the question of where your brows should end, you should angle the pencil diagonally from the outer edge of your nostril to the outermost corner of your eye. Mark with a pencil and repeat with the other eye.

  6. Now that you have marked your reference points, it is time to shape your eyebrows. You can wax or tweeze them as desired.

Every person has different eyebrows, so the way you shape yours will depend on what kind you have. For example, if you have bushy eyebrows, you need to brush them upwards first to determine their natural shape then trim the hairs that extend above their natural line. You can clean their undersides by plucking the stray hairs under the arch. On the other hand, those with very sparse hair can use the help of a tinted brow wax to thicken their eyebrows. Wax is better than brow powder since the latter easily fades. Use an angled brush with stiff bristles to brush the wax over your eyebrows, following their natural line. Use short and light strokes so as to make your eyebrows appear as natural as possible. You can also use a brow brush to achieve the same effect. Whether you have thick or sparse eyebrows, you can always remedy them once you know how to shape eyebrows.
