It is physically impossible to stop time and the aging process, but you don’t have to look your age.   1. Relax and meditate. Encountering stress is inevitable. Since stress has the power to accelerate the aging process, you will notice that people who are always stressed look older and more tired than people who just go with the flow. However, this does not mean that you should try to avoid stress altogether since that is physically impossible. What you can do is to tackle all your life stressors, but make sure that you take a much-needed break every now and then. While you can do this by hitting the spa or having a quick getaway, the cheapest way to relax is to meditate. Set aside 10 minutes of your time per day to meditate by repeating a mantra or a prayer.

    Make sure that you are in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Studies show that such meditation can help prevent age-related changes in the brain.

  2. Eat healthy. The importance of eating the right kinds of food cannot be emphasized enough. Foods that are rich in antioxidants, such as fruits and vegetables, can help fight free radicals that form in the body, which can contribute to aging as well as the development of terminal diseases like cancer. You should also eat a proper balance of carbohydrates, fats, and protein to ensure that your body gets optimal nutrition. When it comes to fats, make sure that you include healthy omega-3 fatty acids in your diet since they can maintain bone strength and reduce the physical signs of aging.

  3. Drink plenty of water. More than half of the human body is made of water. Most of the processes that happen inside the body involve water, so dehydration as little as 2 percent of the total amount of water in your body can cause impairment in physiological responses and performance, making you feel old and fatigued. Therefore, you should make sure to drink at least eight glasses or half a gallon of water per day in order to keep your body healthy and working at its best.

  4. Exercise. Regular exercise not only helps you lose weight and keeps your body healthy, but it also enables you to think more clearly. Studies have shown that physical exercise is connected to brain power, as walking for just 10 minutes per day can reduce your risk for developing Alzheimer’s disease by as much as 40 percent. Furthermore, exercise can help you release stress, so if you are finding it hard to meditate, walking briskly, jogging, or running can help you do the trick.

  5. Fall in love. Love is a powerful drug that can instantly make you feel like you’re on cloud nine, since it releases the hormone oxytocin, which is responsible for reducing stress and anxiety. Needless to say, love has the ability to make you feel all good inside, taking back a number of your years.
