How to Stay Young Looking Naturally

  1. Eat a balanced diet. The food you eat will always have an impact on your appearance. A balanced diet complete with nutrients like vitamins and minerals will help you achieve a youthful look. Always include fruits and vegetables in your diet, avoiding fatty and processed foods as they put you at risk for developing certain diseases. Include fruits such as blueberries and citrus fruits that are high in antioxidants, which prevent signs of aging on your skin.

  2. Get rid of stress. Stress will always be present in your life.



    However, you can choose not to let yourself get bogged down by taking a much-needed break every now and then. Studies show that stress can cause physical changes that hasten the aging process. Smoking stops the body’s absorption of vitamin C, which is an essential ingredient in the formation of collagen, a protein that keeps the skin strong and elastic. In addition, smoking can also tighten the small blood vessels in the skin, hence reducing the nutrients and oxygen that the skin receives. Aside from smoking, drinking alcohol should also be avoided as it can dehydrate the skin, making it look tired and old. While moderate drinking is advised for heart health, you should counter its aging effects by drinking plenty of water to rehydrate your skin.

  4. Avoid direct sun exposure. One of the leading causes of skin aging is sun exposure. You have to protect yourself from the ultraviolet rays of the sun by using sunscreen every time you go outside. Make sure that your sunscreen has an SPF of 15 or higher and apply it on your skin 20 minutes before sun exposure in order for it to take effect. Reapply it every two hours, but more frequently if you are going swimming or if you sweat a lot. You may also wear protective clothing, such as long-sleeved tops, pants, scarves, and hats. The sun is most damaging from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., so avoid going out during this time as much as you can.

  5. Do weight lifting exercises. Aside from making your body stronger, weight-lifting exercises can help you shed fat and build muscle, pulling your skin taut and helping you look younger, even if you’re already 50. In addition, it can help you avoid diseases associated with aging, such as osteoporosis, heart disease, hypertension, and arthritis. You should do strength-training exercises at least two times a week on non-consecutive days. Pepper it with cardiovascular exercises in between.

  6. Sleep well. It is important that you get at least eight hours of sleep every night if you want your body to function efficiently. Sleep is also a natural way to reduce stress, as your body’s cells regenerate while you are asleep. A refreshing sleep can make you look a lot younger and fresher by a mile.

You don’t have to shell out thousands of dollars to maintain your youth. Knowing how to stay young looking naturally will make you look several years younger without resorting to surgical means for preserving your youth.
