How to Take Care of Oily Skin

Oily skin is a condition that makes your face prone to acne and blackheads. It is caused by factors such as heredity, diet, and everyday stress. Regardless of the cause, it should be treated or it will create severe problems. This would be catastrophic for your good looks. Note that some people with oily skin tend to shy away from social activities for fear of ridicule. Knowing how to take care of oily skin will help you become confident. Oily skin should be treated for your own personal development. Here are important pointers:

  1. Study your diet carefully. Oily skin is augmented by eating more processed food, red meat, and dairy products that contain hormones. Avoid these kinds of food or minimize your intake of them. The same applies to fatty and sweet foods such as fried dishes, chocolates and cakes. Choose healthier options such as vegetables and cereals. Steam, grill, or boil your food instead of frying it. If you really cannot resist dessert, then pick fruits and sugar-free items instead. You can have some sweets once in a while, but limit the amount to the minimum.

  2. Wash your face at least twice each day, preferably in the morning and before bedtime. If you can wash it in the middle of the day too, then do so. Make sure you avoid harsh cleansers and scrubs as they only trigger the sebaceous glands to produce more oil. Eradicating the oiliness from your face will be impossible with these kinds of products.

  3. Choose oil-free makeup if you have to wear some. Oil-based makeup will only worsen the oiliness of your face. Dust and dirt with bacteria (which promote the growth of acne and blackheads) will be attracted to your face. Your problem will only worsen if your pores are clogged. You will be disturbed and irritated by the itchiness and heaviness of your face, not to mention the burden you’ll experience when you have acne breakouts. Imagine blood and secretions oozing from your face in front of your friends!

  4. Firmly pat cosmetic blotting papers on your skin whenever you feel uncomfortable. Make them readily available in your handbag so that you can easily do something about your uneasiness, especially when you are outside your home. Do not rub them on your skin as they might cause irritation. Just pat it with them and they will readily absorb the oil. They are simple but really help in controlling oiliness while you are out and about.

  5. Moisturize your face before going to bed even if it is oily, but choose an oil-free moisturizer. Oil and moisture are two different things. Mineral-based products are recommended. They will make your skin moist without adding oil to your face. Oil production at night will slow down, which is beneficial for your skin. You can wake up fresh without the sticky feeling: This is essential for your happiness.

More attention should be dedicated to learning how to care of oily skin. Oily skin is already a problem: if you don’t take care of it, you’ll have more problems! Bear in mind that it is harder to face life’s challenges when you have problems with your face. Don’t wait until insecurity creeps in because this will be disastrous for your well-being. It will be a pity if you end up feeling depressed because of oily skin.
