How to Tighten Stomach Skin

Now that you have lost weight in your abdominal area, your next problem may involve how to tighten stomach skin. This is a common problem experienced by people who have lost weight and found out that the excess skin that they had when they were still fat is sagging already and is in dire need of toning. Sometimes, even fat-burning exercises do not seem to work at all for your sagging skin. But before you contemplate surgery, you need to know that there are still things that you can do to tighten the skin over your stomach.     1. Engage in belly-toning exercises. One of the exercises that you can do to tone your upper abs is the legs-up-straight-arm crunch, which you can perform with or without a dumbbell. Lie flat on your back with your legs perpendicular to the floor. Curl your shoulders and upper back off the floor while your arms are in a straight position, reaching towards the ceiling.     2. Always stay hydrated. Hydration is very important in maintaining the elasticity of the skin and flushing toxins from your body. In order to help tone your skin, you should make it a point to drink at least two liters of water every day.

    3. Avoid rapid weight loss. Crash dieting is one of the reasons you may develop sagging skin on your belly. What happens is that you do not only burn fat, but muscle as well. Hence, the fat and muscles that were supporting your skin and keeping it stretched out is lost, resulting in sagging skin. Aim for a weight loss of one to two pounds per week to avoid losing it too quickly. In addition, include weight lifting in your weight loss program to avoid losing lean muscle.

    4. Use skin firming creams. You will find many skin tightening lotions and creams being offered on the market. These lotions can be effective to tighten your stomach skin after weight loss or even after pregnancy. Before you choose one, however, make sure you take a look at the ingredients and look for vitamins E and A, aloe vera, and other organic ingredients that promote the production of elastin and collagen in your skin.

    5. Eat more proteins. Protein-rich foods, such as lean meats, cottage cheese, legumes, milk, beans, and tofu all help in the production of elastin and collagen, which make the skin plump and healthy. Lean proteins also help build lean muscles, which in turn increases muscle tone. For optimum absorption of proteins, you can load 100 to 200 calories of protein immediately after a workout session.

    6. Take care of your skin. Always nurture your skin through daily exfoliation to help remove dead skin cells and increase skin circulation. Stay away from direct sun exposure, hot chlorinated water, and tanning booths since they can all dehydrate the skin and decrease skin elasticity. If you love swimming, make sure you use soaps and shampoos that can effectively remove chlorine from your skin. Having healthy skin helps with making your skin firm.

It is important to lose weight in a healthy way so as to avoid sagging skin and other problems that might stem from it. Knowing how to tighten stomach skin is very helpful if you want to tone your muscles and flaunt those abs that you have worked so hard on.
