How to Treat Acne

How to treat acne is a question that often gets asked, especially among adolescents, although adults can also suffer from it. Acne is a very common skin condition that, unfortunately, doesn’t look like it’s going away soon. Acne is becoming a normal occurrence because of our increasingly polluted environment and stressful lifestyles. However, it doesn’t have to be a permanent problem. We can deal effectively with acne through various remedies. Prevention and treatment of acne starts with a good skin care regimen. There are things you can do regularly that help treat acne in the meantime, and when practiced consistently, help avoid it in the future. The following tips are simple home remedies that don’t require much effort or a lot of money. Just persistence and patience can result in smooth, clear skin.

  1. DAILY

    There are several things you can do on a daily basis that will help your skin significantly. If you have acne now, use sulfur soap to gently wash your face in the morning and evening.



    not scrub or rub your skin vigorously or roughly because this will stimulate your sebaceous glands to produce more sebum and thus worsen the problem.

    However, if you find that sulfur soap is too harsh for your skin, try using coconut oil. This is available at most grocery stores. Simply apply gently to the face, then rinse after five minutes. It may sound counter-productive to use oil on the face, but some people have found that the oil is soothing to the skin and minimizes sebum production.

    Some people have used banana peels to good effect. Peel a banana and rub the inside of the peel over your face. Let stand for three to five minutes, then rinse off gently.

    You can try several options with a breakout and see what works best for you. Tea tree oil, white toothpaste (not gel), and a paste made of equal parts baking soda and water, applied with a Q-tip on the zit, will dry it up quickly.

    Drink plenty of water, take multivitamins, eat a balanced diet, and exercise regularly. All this will help your skin from the inside out.

  2. TWICE A WEEK

    Apply a homemade mask. You can use honey, yogurt, egg whites, or oatmeal and water on your skin. Leave it on for 20 to 30 minutes, then rinse off gently. These natural ingredients have various components that help dry the open acne wounds, gently cleanse and sometimes disinfect the skin, reduce redness, slough off dead cells, and close or refine pores.

    Wash your pillowcase twice a week. Pillowcases absorb dirt and oil, and when our skin touches them at night, the dirt and oil get rubbed right back into the skin. This isn’t much of a problem when our skin is healthy, but it can worsen your acne.

  3. NEVER

    There are some things that you should not do, or at least avoid doing as much as you can, in order to keep skin acne-free.

    One, do not leave your hair loose around your face. Hair is a trap for dirt and other impurities from the environment, which are readily transferred to the skin when hair touches it. So keep your hair tied away from the face.

    Never pop, break, pick, or squeeze acne. Doing so can cause an infection and leave it in an even worse condition than before. Even without an infection, you are causing more injury to the skin. This can make the scars worse.

Above are quite simple remedies, but practicing them requires discipline. There is no quick-fix solution to acne. However, when done regularly, the regimen will become a habit and easy to continue. Learning how to treat acne and become acne-free is worthwhile for those dealing with constant acne.
