How to Treat Acne Cysts on Penis

One of the most embarrassing topics that you can never talk about in public, even among other male friends, is how to treat acne cysts on penis. However, this is not to say that this condition does not exist—a number of men do have this and are silently agonizing over this issue. Generally, genital acne occurs when the apocrine glands, which are mostly found in genital areas as well as the armpits and scalp, get clogged due to sweat and bacteria. This is an entirely different scenario from that on other parts of the body, particularly the face, where pimples are usually caused by clogged sebaceous glands and excessive oil production. There is cause for optimism, though. There are effective ways to eliminate those embarrassing bumps on your genitals. Here they are:

  1. Observe whether your diet has any connections to the acne development on your package. It is possible that certain foods increase the likelihood of pimples forming on your manhood, as some of them may promote clogging due to excessive sweating or other unusual reactions in the body.

  2. Clean your genital area thoroughly every day. Better yet, shower daily to ensure that your body is acne-free, especially while you are still in the process of treating a skin condition. You can also run a bath and soak your intimate parts in warm water so you soften the cysts and the dead skin cells on the outer layers of your epidermis. You can add some Epsom salts in the bath to enhance the effect of the warm water. You can also put a wet green tea bag on the affected areas as the tea has anti-inflammatory properties.

  3. Use a mild, unscented or non-comedogenic soap wash to cleanse your penis to prevent irritation and allergic reactions. Exfoliate with a loofah or a washcloth about two or three times a week to help slough off dead skin cells and prevent new acne from forming. Also, doing this helps your skin to absorb treatment better. Be careful not to include your urethra in soaping and exfoliating, though. See to it that you don't over scrub to prevent irritating your penis further.

  4. After cleansing, dry yourself and, with a cotton ball, apply some witch hazel diluted with water. Use a different swab for each lesion to avoid transferring bacteria and spreading it.

  5. You can then top this off with an application of antibacterial cream on the affected spots. Use a Q-tip or a clean finger to put the cream on the cysts. Let this sit for a couple of minutes until it is absorbed.

  6. In case the bumps deflate or pop, clean the area carefully with a wet, warm washcloth. Then add some more antibacterial cream after it has been air-dried to ensure that the cyst will heal and not be re-infected.

  7. Wear loose-fitting underwear and garments made of natural, breathable material like cotton. This is to ensure that your genital area receive enough ventilation to discourage bacterial growth.

  8. If you've engaged in physical activity or are in any situation that causes you to sweat profusely, change your underwear and pants or shorts. This is so that you keep this sensitive area of your body dry and fresh. Bacteria thrive in moist conditions.

  9. To avoid complicating your skin condition, never pop or squeeze a cyst. If the lesions prove unbearable for you, schedule an appointment with a dermatologist.

The methods for how to treat acne cysts on penis are different than treating facial acne. One of their differences is that you should not use products with salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, and other oil-controlling ingredients on your genitals as they may irritate the skin. This is because the skin on your genitals is more sensitive than that of the rest of your body and also because it does not have sebaceous glands.
