How to Treat Pimples at Home Fast

Nobody escapes the scourge that is the pimple. And as soon as those telltale red bumps make their appearance on your face or some other part of your body, it's natural for you to want to get rid of them├é┬Świthout going beyond the front doors of your own house if possible. Without further ado, here are useful tips on how to treat pimples at home fast:

  1. First, keep the bump from progressing into a full blown cyst. Do not touch it or any other part of your face. Also, make sure that anything that comes in contact with your skin is clean; this includes bed covers, pillow cases, blankets, phones, makeup tools, and cosmetics.

  2. Ice the pimples so you reduce the inflammation and swelling. Make sure that the ice does not come in direct contact with your skin, as this may irritate it. Instead, enclose ice cubes or an ice pack in a clean cloth before putting it on the affected areas. Ice the pimples for about 5 minutes. Repeat this at regular intervals during the day to get better results.

  3. If you have tea tree oil at home, apply a drop on the blemishes to reduce infection and heal the lesions quicker.

Another alternative is green tea bags, which you steep in hot water to activate the good stuff and leave on a clean dish to cool. Put a tea bag on the affected areas when it's no longer warm. Or you can pour the hot tea into ice cube molds, freeze them, wrap them in a clean cloth, and apply on your pimples.

  4. If you don't have tea tree oil or tea bags, applying cider vinegar or lemon juice is your best bet. According to Reader's Digest, the acid helps flush out your pores. Take a cotton swab, dip it in undiluted vinegar or lemon juice, and dab it on the pimples about once or twice a day, taking care not to apply it on any other part of your skin to prevent irritation. Leave it on overnight.

  5. If you do step 4 during the day, wash it off before going out. Exposing your acid-covered acne to the sun can damage your skin. Moreover, don't forget to use sunblock.

  6. Got aspirin in the house? Take in one to two 325 milligram tablets about four times a day to reduce inflammation. You should check with your doctor first though, especially if you're currently taking other medications or have an existing health condition.

  7. Honey can help zap the zits because of its antibacterial properties. Apply just enough on the bumps and let it dry for about an hour. Wash it off with room temperature water. Alternatively, you can do the same with aloe vera pulp.

  8. You can also use tomatoes to help reduce pimples. Puree a ripe one in the blender and use it as a tomato facial mask. Otherwise, apply some of its juice on the bumps once or twice a day.

Avoid using toothpaste when deciding on how to treat pimples at home fast. It contains ingredients that may irritate your skin further. Also, drink a lot of water (8 glasses) during the day and get enough sleep (at least 7 hours) to reduce swelling and prevent new pimples from forming.
