Currently, Cervarix and Gardasil are the two HPV vaccines available in the market. These vaccines prevent HPV-18 and HPV-16 that cause at least 70 percent of head and neck and cervical cancers. In particular, Gardasil also prevents HPV-11 and HPV-6, which cause genitals warts, anal, penile, and vaginal cancers.

    Areas like the Philippines, Canada, Australia, London and United States recommend HPV vaccination of young ladies to prevent the occurrence of cervical cancer. The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) also recommended the vaccine to males 13 to 21 years.
